Current status of computer science research

The Sociedad Científica Informática de España (SCIE) is aware of the importance of reducing the gender gap in the areas of computer science, with particular attention to promoting the increase in the number of women in computer science studies and subsequently in scientific careers. To this end, it has created a commission on Women in Computer Science whose main objective is to analyse the current situation of women in Computer Engineering and the actions that are being developed by the different schools, faculties and scientific societies of computer science in order to establish synergies and seek measures at a national level to reduce the existing gap and promote the presence of women in this discipline.

The main action to be developed this year by the Women in Computing Commission is framed within the project ‘Research in Computing in Spain: Visualising and making visible the work of women (WOMEN@INF)’ financed by the Women's Institute of the Ministry of Equality. This project aims to carry out a study on the current situation of women researchers in Computer Science. To this end, with the aim of finding out the current situation and the vision of researchers in the area of Computer Science on issues related to work-life balance, attracting and retaining talent, and gender biases, this previously validated questionnaire has been prepared.

The questionnaire is completely anonymous and takes only 12 minutes to answer, so we ask for your collaboration: https://limesurvey.grial.eu/index.php/978332
